Unfortunately, the reality of being trans in a largely transphobic world is that trans kids rarely get the medical care they deserve, causing their puberty to progress and increasing their dysphoria. Additionally, DIY resources are generally given a bad rap within the trans community as “risky” and “unsafe”. However, when used correctly, DIY HRT has been proven to be very safe and effective in reducing dysphoria and allowing people to live independently as their authentic selves.
The process of DIY-ing HRT can seem like an extremely daunting process that’s difficult for adults and even more so for minors. As teenagers ourselves, we the creators of this site struggled to find a supportive community on our own DIY journeys. However, we found some incredibly helpful resources and guides along the way that made this process easier and more accessible for us, and we decided to compile them into one easy-to-access website for others to use as well.
Being trans is not easy, especially given the current state of global politics and growing hostility in some areas. But in times like these, it’s more important than ever to hold onto your sense of self. You have a choice: to give up and let the world push you into silence, or to fight for a life as the person you truly are. You have the power to change your life, both in the present and for many years ahead.
You don't have to accept endless waiting lists, unsupportive families, or dismissive doctors as the end of your journey. HRT may be closer and more attainable than you think. The sooner you begin, the more time you'll have to grow into the version of yourself you've always known.
Here’s something we believe every trans person needs to hear: Stop waiting.
Stop depending on systems and people who don’t understand your experience. If the world won't help you, help yourself. You deserve to live fully and freely, no matter what others try to take from you.
